Week 19
Week 19!
.
The past two weeks have been tough. During one of our regular ultrasounds, we were told our babies might be showing signs of Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome, where there is an imbalance of circulation between the twins. We were referred to UCSF, where after a series of ultrasounds and tests, it was confirmed. We met with the team of doctors and specialists, who told us their best chance is a Fetoscopic Laser Procedure. We were admitted the next day, and had the surgery that same day.
.
We were devasted, saddened, shocked, and so heartbroken. But above all, we were so hopeful. We owe a great deal to the team of doctors at Kaiser and UCSF for being so proactive and catching this when they did. The procedure went well, the twins are already showing improvement, and I am being closely monitored for the rest of my pregnancy.
.
These weekly #bumpdates have taken on a new meaning, and I won’t take them for granted again. To make it to 19 weeks, I am so thankful. Our baby girls are so active, and I am loving feeling every little kick. Thank you to everyone who have shared your well wishes and prayers during this time. Thank you to our family for being right there with us as we navigate through this. And thank you to my person. Joseph, you have been my rock. We will continue to carry each other through this, and I can’t wait for the day we bring these babies home. πΆπ»ππΆπ»
